Home

Your home screen is a camera near you.

Open the app and you see the sky from a real camera close to where you are. The card under it reads the nearest weather station, often a backyard one a few blocks away, and tells you what is coming and when: “rain reaches you around 3:40,” or “dry for the next hour.”

Type in your address, call it Home or Cabin or whatever you want, and switch between there and where you are standing with one tap.

Radar

Radar you can scrub.

Drag the slider back to see where the storm came from and forward to see where it is going. The next hour comes from the radar too, so the home card can say “rain starts in 20 minutes” instead of “60% chance today.”

The same map carries cameras, weather stations, snow depth at SNOTEL sites and river flow at USGS gauges. Turn cameras on over the radar and tap one under the storm to see what is falling.

Lists

The pass, the trailhead and your parents’ town, in one list.

Each list shows a live camera, the current reading and an alert when something changes. Make one for the drive to the cabin and another for the places you climb.

Sign in with Apple or Google and your lists come with you to a new phone. Signing in is optional. The app works the same without it.

iPhone Duo · coming in an update

Opens up on iPhone Duo.

Unfold the phone and the camera gets a whole pane. Conditions, the next hours and the map sit beside it instead of under it, and you can put two cameras side by side: the pass and the town. Fold it and the same screen is back in your pocket.

Questions, ideas, a camera we’re missing?

hello@upcanyon.app goes to the person who builds the app.

Made in Fort Collins, Colorado, by one person. The app reads NOAA and the National Weather Service, USGS river gauges, USDA SNOTEL, EPA AirNow and state DOT cameras, and shows where every number came from. Your location fetches your weather and nothing else.
